About Jenny

Hi! I’m Jenny, a passionate Latina dietitian dedicated to simplifying diabetes management.

My journey into this field began at the age of 8 when I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. From that moment, I knew I wanted to help others navigate the complexities of diabetes without unnecessary stress.

As a Latina, I deeply understand the significance of our cultural foods. They’re not just meals; they’re the heart of our celebrations and the bonds we share with loved ones, often filled with delicious carbs! I’m here to guide you with evidence-based practices that honor your culture, your favorite dishes, and help you develop habits rooted in health-promoting behaviors and joyful self-care. My nutrition philosophy centers around intuitive eating principles and a weight-neutral approach.

I believe that our health is about more than just what we eat; it’s about seeing the whole picture and making changes that truly support your overall well-being. Outside of work, you’ll find me at hot yoga, enjoying leisurely walks around Austin with my frenchie named Bru, exploring local coffee shops, or indulging in a good book.

From Jenny: “I’m dedicated to helping you achieve better health through a personalized counseling approach that centers on understanding your lifestyle, preferences, and priorities. With a foundation in intuitive eating, I’ll empower you to embrace food freedom, even while managing diabetes, and to truly honor your body’s needs. Together, we’ll form a collaborative partnership, working as a team to enhance your overall well-being. My goal is to support you on your journey to better health while respecting all that is important to you along the way.”

What Patients Say About Jenny

Jenny Fernandez was great to work with. She was knowledgeable and empathetic. I could not have asked for more. I was on the fence about joining because I knew I needed to address my disordered eating with a mental health professional. While I know it requires a balance with nutritional counseling, I feel comfortable and confident in my nutrition education and that journey has already helped me get as far as I am today.
