The MyPlate breaks down 50% of our plate with vegetables, encouraging individuals to choose leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, non-starchy vegetables, and others. The goal is to make vegetables fill half of the plate. The remaining half get divided into 25% carbohydrates and 25% proteins. This approach serves as a visual reminder to create well-balanced meals that are planned around plant foods.

The ideal carbohydrate intake for people with type 2 diabetes can vary depending on several factors, including age, activity level, overall health, and individual response to carbohydrates.
